Irene A. Larsen, 80, of Mendota passed away January 23, 2022 in her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Mendota with Father Jeff Windy officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be private. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.
Irene was born November 26, 1941 in Spring Valley to Cletus and Edith (Funfsinn) Koster. She married Robert Larsen on July 23, 1988 in Las Vegas.
Irene was a 1959 graduate of Spring Valley Hall High School. She worked at First State Bank for 37 years as a teller and head bookkeeper and became facility manager of the LaMoille branch when it first opened. Irene coordinated the Way 55 trips for many years, which she dearly enjoyed, before retiring in 2003. She loved cooking for her family and friends, visiting casinos, and would go out of her way to lend a helping hand. Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister. Irene adored spending time with her grandchildren and attending their events. She was a member of the Mendota Moose Lodge and Mendota Elks Club, where she was in a bowling league with her husband.
Irene is survived by her husband Robert of Mendota; her daughters Brenda (Scott) Grobe of Mendota and JoAnn (Greg) Corcoran of Pick City, North Dakota; her son D.J. (Geina) Parks of Mendota; brother Robert (Mary Ann) Koster of LaSalle; three sisters Sharon (Chapman) of Henry, Donna Cleland of Decatur and Paula (John) Kasica of Grand Rapids, Michigan; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; three stepsons Jim (Shelby) Larsen, Kevin Larsen and Bart Larsen; stepdaughter Melody (Jim) Stremlau; 7 step grandchildren; 9 step great grandchildren and one step great great grandson. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step granddaughter Dustine Miller and step grandson Dank Miller, and two brother in laws.
