Jack Everett Baughman, 94, of Mendota passed away March 26, 2021 in OSF St. Paul Medical Center, Mendota.

Private family services will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at noon at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with Pastor Mary Bohall of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery, Mendota with military honors by Mendota VFW Post 4079. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.

Jack was born January 30, 1927 in Blue Mound, Il. to Carl and Eloise (Brown) Baughman. He married Alice (Merritt) Jett on January 24, 1953. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2017.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathi (Wayne) Stamberger of LaMoille and Lori (Jeff) Simonton of Mendota; three sons, Michael (Faith) Jett of Valdosta, GA, Jack "Jay" (Debra) Baughman, Jr. of LaGrange and Robert (Emily McConville) Baughman of Mendota; nine grandchildren, Brian (Amanda) Stamberger, Jason (Shelly) Stamberger, Rachel (Joe) Buchanan, Paige Simonton, Ryan Jett, Allyse Jett, Jordan Baughman, Lindsey Baughman and Tracy Wright; and eleven great-grandchildren, Blake, Trent, Gavin, Jaxon, Dominik, Ashtyn, Harper and Ivy Stamberger, Evelyn and Sienna Buchanan, and Jayce Baughman; and one sister, Joyce Roush of Macon, Il.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a sister, Maxine Hartwig.

Jack graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1944. He then entered the U. S. Merchant Marines from 1945-1947. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1952, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. Jack was a Construction Supervisor at Agricultural Building Company in Mendota for 30 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Mendota Elks Lodge 1212. He and Alice were long time members of Shady Oaks Country Club where they loved to golf and spend time with friends. They also spent many happy winters in Arizona. Another passion of his, besides golf, was completing and framing hundreds of jigsaw puzzles. Jack also loved sweets and was a believer that a meal wasn't complete without dessert. He will be forever loved and missed!

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church or Mendota Area Senior Services.
