Obituary

James A. Dankenbring, 23, of Mendota died Aug. 29, 2009, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. Burial will be at Wisner Cemetery, Ophir Township. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at the church. Mr. Dankenbring was born Oct. 3, 1985, in Peru to Joseph and Martha (Hill) Dankenbring. He married Monica Knowlton on May 15, 2009, in Mendota. He was a 2004 graduate of Mendota High School and a graduate of Kishwaukee College where he studied diesel mechanics. He was employed by Leone Grain & Supply Inc. in Peru as a mechanic and driver. He was a member of Earlville Methodist Church, Mendota Sportsmen's Club and Waltham Curling Club. He is survived by his wife; his parents, Joe and Martha Dankenbring of Mendota; one brother, Kenny Dankenbring of Mendota; two sisters, Angela Dankenbring of Tiskilwa and Kristin Dankenbring of Mendota; his maternal grandmother, Helen Hill of Waterman; paternal grandmother, Mary Dankenbring of Mendota; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandfathers. Memorials may be directed to a college fund for the baby.
