James K. Haight, 78, of Oregon, IL died May 17, 2017 in Alden Park Strathmoor, Rockford.

Private graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday in Restland Cemetery, Mendota with Military Rites by VFW Post 4079. Rev. Kent Svendsen will be officiating. The Merritt Funeral Home is assisting the family.

James was born October 22, 1938 in Mendota to Charles and Lois (Rogers) Haight.

He was a graduate of Earlville High School and served with the U. S. Army.

He was the owner of the Diamond M Lawnmower shop in Earlville.

He is survived by his son Sam Haight of Oregon, IL.; daughter, Julie (David) Parker of Weldon; one grandson Nicholas; one brother Charles (Cora) Haight of Salisbury, MD; and one sister, Sandra (Stan) Yenerich.

He was preceded by his parents.
