James L. Hensley, 87, a resident of Heritage
Manor Nursing Home, Peru, formerly of Mendota,
died May 2, 2007, in Illinois Valley Community
Hospital, Peru.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday
at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. The Rev. Steve
Adamson will officiate.
Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday in
Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Mr. Hensley was born Dec. 14, 1919, in
Nelsonville, Ark., to Marion and Lena (Wagner)
Hensley. He married Bessie Sharkey. She preceded
him in death. He then married Regina Fountain.
He worked at 76 Truck Stop in Peru before his
retirement.
Survivors include four sons, Roy Hensley, Bill
(Pam) Hensley and Danny Hensley, all of Mendota,
and Tony Hensley of Moline; six daughters, Arzella
(George) Starkey of Benton, Ky., Ellen Ceretto and
Ruth Ferroni, both of La Salle, Marilyn (Juan)
Rodriguez and Tammy Hensley, both of Mendota,
and Peggy Fuller of Minnesota; grandchildren, great
grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both wives; one
daughter, Linda Lucas; one brother and five sisters.
