James Menzel, 70, of LaMoille died March 10, 2010, in his residence. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, LaMoille, with the Rev. Jerry Graham officiating. Burial will be at Melugen Cemetery, Brooklyn Township, with military rites by VFW Post 4079. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. He was born July 8, 1939, in Woodstock to Gordon and Clarabelle (Johnson) Menzel. He married Karen Walker on Dec. 28, 1963, in St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota. He served with the U.S.Army for three years. He was employed as a truck driver by Consolidated Freight Ways. He was a member of First Baptist Church, was a Boy Scout leader, Little League umpire and union steward with Local 722. He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Susan Menzel of Germany, Tammy (Charlie) Williams of Spring Valley and Lisa (Troy) Quest of LaMoille; three sons, Jerry (Sunee) Menzel of Mendota, Rick (Kris) Menzel of Princeton and Ron (Jill) Menzel of Perkasie, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Russ (Penny) Menzel of Crossville, Tenn., and John Menzel of Compton; two sisters, Judy (Dick) Kelly of Mendota and Gwen (Bill) Cox of Stillman Valley; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be directed to Gift of Life Transplant House or Hope Lodge Cancer Center, both in Rochester, Minn.
