Jan M. Erbes, 94, of Mendota died Aug. 11, 2010, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Holy Cross Church with the Rev. Fredi Gomez Torres officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday with a 7 p.m. rosary in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born June 2, 1916, in LaCrosse, Wis., to Casimir and Mary (Haunifil) Brey. She married Robert Erbes in 1954. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1936 and was a registered nurse. She worked at St. Mary's Hospital in La Salle during World War II and later was employed by Mendota Community Hospital before retiring in 1986 as the director of nursing at Mendota Lutheran Home. She was a member of Holy Cross Church. She is survived by two sons, Bill Erbes of Bensenville and Jack (Debbie) Erbes of Warsaw, Ill.; and two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband in June 1977 and one sister, Genevieve Morrick. Memorials may be directed to Mendota Lutheran Home.
