Jerald P. Colle, 70 of Mendota passed away March 11, 2019 at OSF St. Paul Medical Center, Mendota.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 12:00 p.m., in the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Cremation rites will follow and burial will be private at a later date. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Jerald was born February 8, 1949 in Newark to Paul Edward Johnson and Betty Nelson. He was raised by his stepfather William Colle.
Jerald worked as a mechanic in the United States Navy working on Navy planes and Blue Angel planes. He was a mechanic at Bay Valley Foods before his retirement. He was a member of Mendota Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He enjoyed NASCAR and loved to participate in demolition derbies.
He is survived by the love of his life Sue King of Mendota and her son James King and family and her daughter Christina Unger and family; his daughter Robynn (Jeremy) Smith of Tampico; two brothers Allen (Donna) Colle of Nason and Scott (Lisha) Colle of Sandwich; two sisters Judy (Bill) Kallas of Streamwood and Paula of Illinois; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren including his "little sunshine" Harmony Rose; nieces and nephews; his dog and best friend Barney and his two best friends John Bruss and Don Mentzen.
He was preceded by his parents a brother Mike and a niece Brianna.
