Joan M. Richardson, 79, of Mendota died April 1, 2011, in Mendota Community Hospital. A memorial service will be t 11 a.m. Saturday in Zion nited Methodist Church, Mendota, with the Revs. Deanna Mede and Ken Foster officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born May 28, 1931, in Compton to Charles A. and Ruth (Longbein) Schnuckel. She married Hugh Richardson on March 24, 1951, in Zion United Methodist Church, Mendota. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and past president of United Methodist Women. She also was a member of True Blues, Church Women United and served on their state board, member of the Mendota Unit of Home Community Education and Mendota Federated Women's Club, and Mendota Home Extension. She was a volunteer with the Hume Carnegie Museum and the Mendota Area Christian Food Pantry. She is survived by four sons, Lee (Cynthia) Richardson of Charleston, S.C., Mark (Beverly) Richardson of Mendota, Dana (Sharon) Richardson of Paw Paw, and Jan (Kelley) Richardson of Prairie View; 10 grandchildren; and one brother, Charles H. Schnuckel of Belvidere. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996 and one sister. Memorials may be directed to her church or the American Diabetes Association.
