Joann Kloke, 81, a resident of Seven Acres Senior Care Services in Houston, Texas, formerly of Mendota, died July 10, 2014 at Memorial Hermann Medical Center in Houston.

Funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 2 at the Merritt Funeral Home with Rev. Sandy Smith officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon on Aug. 2 at the funeral home.

Joann was born Oct. 23, 1932 in Creston, Iowa to Herman and Delma (Crowder) Rurode. She married Herschel Kloke on Feb. 14, 1955 in Creston, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1972.

Survivors include one son, Blaine Kloke of Mendota; one daughter, Milree (Ben) Ziesmer of Sugarland, Texas; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Joann graduated from Creston High School in 1955. She retired from housekeeping at Mendota Community Hospital in 2000. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mendota.
