Joanne Brown-Oberheide, 78, formerly of LaMoille, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota has been entrusted with cremation rites. On the morning of Friday, August 13, 2021, the family will host a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. with a opportunity for people to say a silent prayer, and Mass will start at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Arlington with Father Ron Margherio officiating. Private family only burial will be at Union Cemetery, LaMoille at a later date.
Joanne was born in Blytheville, Arkansas, on February 13, 1943 to Charles and Mary (Sulenich) Chambers. She grew up in Michigan and met her husband Bob Brown (deceased in 1999) in Washington D.C. They married on June 2, 1962 and were happily married for 37 years. After his death, she remarried Hal Oberheide in 2010 (deceased).
Joanne is best known for her love of T.E.C. (Teens Encounter Christ), Cursillo, and spiritually advising the prisoners at the Sheridan Correctional Center. She had an immense amount of love and pride for her 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Joanne loved seeing her grandchildren and cared deeply for all of them.
She is survived by her five daughters: Sheri (Terry) Cromwell and Terri (Chad) Nelson both of La Moille, Michelle (Mike) Brown-Garcia of Ladd, Brenda (Jim) Savage of Oglesby and Stephanie (Jim) Grivetti of Ladd. Additionally, Joanne is survived by her three siblings: Charles "Bucky" (Linda) Bucknam, Betsy McGlauflin, and Deb (Bill) Kinney. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Anne (Charles Michael) Chambers and lifelong friends Betty Wenzel and Mary Paula Schmitt.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Charles Michael Chambers.
