Jody Herman Smith, 50, of Mendota
went to be with the Lord on June 30,
2013.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday
in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with
the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating.
Burial will be at Restland Cemetery,
Mendota.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at
the funeral home.
He was born Dec.
7, 1962, in Mendota
to Herman E. and
Alberta Rose (Olsen)
Smith. He was a
graduate of Mendota
High School.
He was employed
by Nippon Sharyo
in Rochelle and
was formerly
employed at Eakas
in Peru, Mitsubishi
in Bloomington, GE in DeKalb and
Spartan Tool in Mendota.
He enjoyed fishing, model cars, old
movies and traveling to locations on his
bucket list which included old Route 66.
He was a late model car enthusiast and
enjoyed his 1990 7-Up convertible. He also
enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.
He is survived by his fiancee, Rose
Lewis of Mendota; three sons, Nick
(Cristin), Nathaniel and Justin; one
daughter, Nicole; one grandson, Isaac;
his mother, Alberta Smith of Mendota;
three brothers, Michael (Kim) Smith and
Charlie (Gerri) Smith, both of Mendota,
and Randy (Tammy Gibson) Smith of
Arlington; five nephews, Brian (Amy)
Smith, Greg (Sherri) Smith, Tim (Paula)
Smith, Jake (Jenni) Gerding and Matt
Gerding; and three nieces, Jennifer
Smith, Sara Smith and Paige Smith.
He was preceded in death by his
father.
