John L. Didlinger, 77, of Compton passed away October 23, 2018 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 12:00 p.m., in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Compton with Rev. Jeff Schlesinger officiating. Cremation rites will follow the funeral and burial will be private at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m., until time of services in the church.

John was born November 20, 1940 in Vincennes, Indiana to Carl and Elmeretta (Simms) Didlinger. He married Janice Mae Olson, the love of his life, on April 10th 1965 in Elgin.

Survivors include his son, John (Butch) and his wife Julie (Hays) Didlinger of Oregon; his granddaughter Jillian Woolsey of Dixon; and his two great grandchildren Juliana Mae and Jacob Robert whom will fondly remember him as Great Paw.

He was preceded by his parents and his wife November 7, 2011.

John graduated from Dundee high school in 1958 and shortly thereafter began a lifelong career at Elmhurst Chicago Stone in Elmhurst ending with being a plant Supervisor up until his death, a job that he deeply felt proud to be a part of all of his life. He was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
