John M. Coss, 57, of Mendota died the evening of June 4, 2008, at home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Mr. Coss was born Feb. 26, 1951, in Sandwich to Richard and Verna (Staton) Coss. He married Sandra Phillips on Dec. 2, 1978. He attended Marquette High School, graduating in 1969, and was active in theater at MHS. He worked for ComEd as a union laborer since he was 18. He coached Little League for several years and participated in community theater. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Ryan (Sarah) Coss and Clayton Coss of Mendota; one granddaughter; four sisters, Theresa Schmitto, Betty Barrera, Margaret Rosales and Shelia (Remberto) Arteaga, all of Mendota; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother. Memorials may be directed to the family.
