John "Bud" L. Mahaffey, 88,
of LaMoille died May 23, 2013,
in Mendota Lutheran Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m.
Tuesday in Merritt Funeral Home,
Mendota, with the Rev. Jamie
Wallace officiating. Burial will
follow at Restland Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m.
Monday in the funeral home.
Mr. Mahaffey was born Nov.
21, 1924, in West Brooklyn,
Ill., to John and Sadie (Hoerner)
Mahaffey. He married Cora
Kerchner on Dec. 30, 1944, in
St. John's Lutheran Church,
Mendota.
He farmed his whole life in
the Lee County area and was a
member of St. John's Lutheran
Church.
He is survived by a daughter,
Denise (Howard) Cromwell of
LaMoille; three sons, Tom (Deb)
Mahaffey of Mendota, Michael
Mahaffey of Rochelle and Ronald
(Laura) Mahaffey of Ashton; 11
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by his wife in 2001; one son,
Gary; one brother, Don; two sisters,
Velva and Valaria; and one
grandson, Micah.
Memorials may be directed
to Special Olympics Area 16,
Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or
St. Labre Indian School.
