John Wesley Noble, 95, of Mendota, Illinois, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026. John was a vibrant individual who famously celebrated his birthdays from age 90 through 93 by skydiving.
Born August 8, 1930, in Mendota to Forrest and Dorothy Noble, John served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He dedicated 39 years to his career as a farrier, shoeing local saddle horses and later working on the Chicago race track circuit. He was an avid horseback rider, a proud owner of a 1930 Model A truck, and an enthusiastic golfer. John was a member of the VFW, the Elks, and the Mendota golf course, where he worked as a starter. He always enjoyed a good gin and tonic with his friends and family.
John is survived by his daughter, Deb Sisney; his daughter-in-law, Kim Noble; his grandson, Matt, and his wife, Kelsey, and their three children, Forrest, Wyatt, and Iris; and his granddaughter, Linsey.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona; his son, Bob; his daughter-in-law, Nancy; and his son-in-law, Phil.
Memorial visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Horner Merritt Funeral Home, 800 Monroe Street, in Mendota.
A graveside military service will follow at Restland Cemetery in Mendota. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tidewell Hospice Foundation (3550 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Florida 34239) or a hospice of your choice. Please visit www.horner-merritt.com to sign the online guest book.
