Obituary

Jonathan A. Ross, 80, of Ottawa, passed away on Tuesday February 4th 2025, at Allure of Mendota. He was born May 4th 1944 in Princeton, Illinois to Clyde and Harriet (Jacobson) Ross.


After graduating high school, Jon joined the U.S. Army serving in South Korea from 65-67. Jon was the owner and operator of New Cycle Fire Extinguisher Service for over 35 years as well as a bartender and photography salesman. He married Pam (Benjamin) in 1984 and they spent 40 years together until his passing. Together Jon and Pam fostered 73 children as well as raising 2 of their own.


Jon is survived by his wife Pam, daughters Lisa (George) Hebel,and Cailee (Kimo) Flick. Grandchildren Zach, Gabby, Izzac, Isabella Hebel, and Noelani Flick and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a sister Carol (Elmo) Hanny.


He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, brothers Howard, Arnold, and Steve and sister Dorothy Anderson. Jon was a storyteller, you could always count on a couple of tales (maybe tall ones) at family gatherings. We will miss him.
