Joyce Barber, 93, of LaMoille died Dec. 19,
2013, in Mendota Community Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Van Orin
Gospel Church with the Rev. Jeffery Patrick officiating.
Interment of ashes will be at Greenfield
Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation is one hour prior to services Monday
at the church. Merritt Funeral
Home, Mendota provided the
arrangements.
She was born July 19, 1920,
in LaMoille to R. Everett and
Zora E. (Preston) Shirley. She
married Floyd Barber on Jan.
29, 1944, in LaMoille.
She graduated from
LaMoille High School in 1937.
She was employed as a cook
and waitress in LaMoille restaurants
for more than 30 years.
She was a member of Van Orin Gospel Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane
Simpkins of Van Orin and Kaye(Peter) Razo of Sterling;
eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three
great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary
Ethel Shankel of Sterling.
She was preceded in death by her husband on
July 6, 1986; and two brothers, Floyd, and one in
infancy; grandson Floyd "Bub" Simpkins; son in law Larry Simpkins.
