Joyce C. Brumley, 75, of 1208 Susanna St., Mendota died Nov. 26, 2009, at home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Cross Church, Mendota. The Rev. Fredi Gomez-Torres will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery, West Brooklyn. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born May 23, 1934 in West Brooklyn to Henry and Maria (Gander) Gehant. She married Essie "Slim" Brumley on June 19, 1979, in Dixon. Mrs. Brumley worked at the Mendota Reporter and Caron Yarn in Mendota and Rochelle. She was a member of Elks Lodge 1212 and was a past member of Mendota Moose Lodge. Survivors are two sons, Craig (Becky) Deming of Mendota and Steven Deming of Evansville, Wis.; three daughters, Pamela (Randy) Boelk of Mendota, Beth (Butch) Haynes of Mendota and Susan Deming of Enid, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1995, a sister, two brothers and a grandson. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society.
