Joyce A. Hoelzer (Grubar), formerly of Dimmick Township, passed away April 16, 2026, in Shabbona, IL at the age of 90. Joyce was born November 9, 1935, in Peru, Illinois to Frank and Ruth (Welch) Grubar. She married Marlin Hoelzer June 12, 1955, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Utica, Illinois.
She was a1953 graduate of La Salle Peru Township High School. She was a long-time member of the Waltham, Pomona and Troy Grove Granges, and served as an election judge and secretary/treasurer of the Utica Ambulance Service and the Waltham Grange. She was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Maggie) Hoelzer of Earlville; four daughters Ruth (Carl) Wolfe of Carol Stream, Jolene (David) Martinec of Brownsville, Texas, Vickie (Anthony) Donofrio of Apollo Beach, Florida, and Dawn (James) Murillo of Carol Stream; thirteen grandchildren Kyle Wolfe (Talita Dutra), Kristin Bryce Wolfe, Kara Wolfe (Mark Mitchell), Kathryn Martinec, Allison Martinec, Meghan Shenberg, Alexander Hoelzer, Andrew Martinec (Sarah Lang), Connor Shenberg, Andrea Donofrio, Marissa Donofrio, Erin Chrusciel and Michael Chrusciel; three great grandchildren Raiden Wolfe, Ryan Wolfe and Miles Martinec; two sisters Janice (George) Moriarity and Joann (Edward) Olson; brother Frank J (Judy) Grubar; two sisters in law Teresa Yocum and Velda (Richard) Reed; brother-in-law, Eldon (Pat) Hoelzer and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marlin, sisters in law Patricia Hoelzer and Dolores Barnett; brothers-in- law Robert Barnett and Michael Yocum, nephew Kenneth Hoelzer; and niece Beth Johnson.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the Horner-Merritt Funeral Home, 800 Monroe Street, in Mendota with Pastor Elise Rothfusz officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Troy Grove Cemetery. Please visit www.horner-merritt.com to sign the online guest book.
