Joyce C. Pierce, 86, of Mendota died May 18, 2012, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Zion United Methodist Church, Mendota, with the Revs. Michael Morrell and Deanna Mede officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Mendota to Amos and Erma (Clinite) Buck. She married James Pierce on July 24, 1945, in Ottawa. She was a graduate of Mendota High School and a member of Zion United Methodist Church. She helped her husband farm in Meriden Township. She loved gardening, playing cards and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, James of Mendota; one son, Michael (Kathy) Pierce of Earlville; one daughter, Sue (Ron) Westenhaver of Osage Beach, Mo.; four grandchildren, Gretchen Tully, Jon Larson, Amy Finley and Amost Buck; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Phylis Archer. Memorials may be directed to Zion United Methodist Church or Mendota Lutheran Home.
