Judith A. Winchell, 77, of Heritage Health, Mendota died Feb. 26, 2012, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Metamora. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Friday in the funeral home. She was born June 23, 1934, in Earlville to Gerald and Viola (Rhodes) Shurlow. She married Gordon Winchell on Oct. 24, 1970, in Ottawa. She owned and operated Ionia Bar & Grill in Ionia, Mo., for more than 20 years. Survivors are one son, Terry (Cindy) Keele of Orland Park; one stepson, Bryan (Linda) Winchell of Yuma, Ariz.; two daughters, Nancy (Herb) Champlin of Mendota and Cindy Keeler of Lanark; one stepdaughter, Karen (Scott) Roudis of Morris; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Judith) Shurlow of Indiana and Richard Shurlow of Chicago; four sisters, Lois Alsbig of Ottawa, Nancy Seavers of Appleton, Wis., Myra (Keith) Flickinger of Earlville and Celia (Danny) VanDenventer of Oswego; and one brother-in-law, Norman (Bonda) Winchell of Germantown Hills. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004; three sons, Steve, Mark and Gary Keele; and one brother, Jerry Shurlow. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
