Kathy Joerger, born Katherine Mankowski, on December 30,1939, in LaSalle, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her home on March 8, 2024, in Mendota, Illinois, at the age of 84.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Holy Cross Church with Father Peter Pilon officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, in the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.

Kathy was a dedicated homemaker, whose life centered around caring for her family. She cherished every moment she could spend with her family, embodying the true meaning of selflessness and love. Her unwavering love and dedication to her loved ones always put the needs of her family above her own. Her numerous sacrifices ensured the well-being and happiness of her family. As a woman of strong faith, she instilled in those around her the importance of family, hard work, and doing what is right. In her spare time, besides nurturing and caring for her family, Kathy enjoyed cooking and baking, especially creating sweet treats for others to enjoy. Kathy attended Hall High School in Spring Valley, Illinois and was a dedicated member of Holy Cross Church in Mendota.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Raymond "Barney", her son, Tom, and daughter, Donna, all of Mendota, Illinois.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Laura (Siebert) and Tony Mankowski, and her brother, Tony Jr., as well as many aunts and uncles.

Kathy will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and the hole left by her absence is impossible to fill. Her legacy of love and sacrifice will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Memorials may be directed to masses in her name, Cure SMA (spinal muscular atrophy) or the donor's choice.
