Katherine M. Truckenbrod, 90, of 1365 Fisk Road, Compton died Dec. 30, 2008, in Rochelle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Lutheran Church, Lee, with the Rev. Sarah Schaffner officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, provided the arrangements. She was born Feb. 26, 1918, in Mendota to Michael and Katherine (Langlitz) Elsesser. She married Franklin Truckenbrod on April 1, 1945, in Mendota. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lee where she was active in the quilting group. She was a former member of the Home Extension and former board member of N.I.C.E. Food pantry in Lee. During her youth she attended and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota. She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Susan (Paul) Sanderson of Crystal Lake and Lee; two sons, Jeffrey (Mary) Truckenbrod of Rochelle and James (Margaret) Truckenbrod of Riverview, Fla.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters. Memorials can be directed to N.I.C.E. Food Pantry.
