Kathryn Ann Dungan, 66 of Elmhurst, IL, passed away December 25, 2024. Born August 21, 1958, in LaSalle, IL the daughter of Paul and Constance (Slaughter) Kimrey.  Kathy lived a fulfilling life and was a beacon of love and strength to those around her. Kathy was a 1976 graduate of Mendota Township High School, she then received her associates in Nursing
from IVCC in 1978.  Kathy married Otis Dungan October 24, 1981 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mendota.  Having resided in Elmhurst, Illinois for 40 years, her presence was a cherished part of the community. Kathy dedicated a significant part of her life to the medical field, serving as a devoted nurse at the UIC University of Illinois for 30 years, before retiring in 2023. Kathy lived her life from a place of positivity, always carrying an air of optimism and open-heartedness. She will be remembered as loving and giving of her time to her friends and loved ones, particularly when it came to offering encouragement and praise.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Otis Dungan of Elmhurst IL; two children: Grant Dungan and Molly (Mike) Novak both of Elmhurst, IL; two brothers: Tom (Sharon) Kimrey and Tim (Donna) Kimrey both of Mendota; one sister: Mary Helen Kimrey of Monroe Center, IL; one grand child: Elise Novak.

She is preceded in death by her father, Paul Kimrey, and her mother, Connie Kimrey; one grand daughter: Angela Novak.

Public visitation will be 3:00-7:00 PM, Monday, December 30th at the Horner-Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota, IL.  Funeral mass will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday December 31 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mendota with Father Jeff Windy.  Cremation care will follow the funeral mass and burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date.  Memorials can be made to the IVCC Foundation for the Establishment of Kathy Dungan Memorial Nursing Scholarship.  Visit www.horner-merritt.com for online guestbook.
