Kenneth E. Hoelzer, 51, of Utica died Jan. 27, 2014, in St.
Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John's Lutheran
Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Dale Peterson officiating.
Burial will be at Troy Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday in Merritt
Funeral Home, Mendota.
He was born July 11, 1962, in La Salle
to Eldon and Patricia (Yusko) Hoelzer. He
married Colleen Huber on July 12, 1998
in Utica.
He was a member of St. John's
Lutheran Church, Mendota. He graduated
from Mendota High School in 1980 and
was employed by Illinois Department of
Natural Resources for 33 years at Starved
Rock State Park. He was a member of
Waltham Grange. He was an avid hunter
and fisherman with a passion for gardening.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Tony Hoelzer of
Smithfield, Va.; three daughters, Amanda Hoelzer of La Salle,
and Kathleen "Nikki" Sheehan and Tarryn Sheehan, both of
Utica; six grandchildren; his father, Eldon Hoelzer of Utica;
one brother, Randall (Dawn) Hoelzer of Utica; and three sisters,
Beth (Jim) Johnson Jr. of Utica, Sheila (Dan) Bittner of
Ottawa and Denise (Kevin) Koopman of Anchorage, Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
