Kenneth G. Kerchner, 79, of
Mendota died Dec. 30, 2012, in
his residence.
Mass of Christian burial will
be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in
Holy Cross Church, Mendota,
with the Rev. Geoff Horton
officiating. Burial will be at a
later date.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m.
Friday in Merritt Funeral
Home, Mendota.
Mr. Kerchner was born May
21, 1933, in Mendota to Carl
and Rena (Mann) Kerchner.
He married Marian Glaser on
June 25, 1955, in Our Lady
of Perpetual Help Church,
Sublette.
He was a member of Holy
Cross Church, Mendota.
Ken was the original owner
of a two-door, mint-condition,
unrestored 1963 Ford Galaxie
that he took to car shows in
44 states and received more
than 1,000 car show awards.
He was employed by Mendota
Community Hospital for 23
years in the laundry facility.
He started Ken's TV Tower
and Antenna business in 1955
and operated it for 52 years
before transferring ownership
to HD Digital TV Antenna and
Tower, Sublette and continuing
to work for them.
He is survived by his wife;
one daughter, Karen Richards
of La Salle; one granddaughter,
Meghann Richards; two
brothers, Carl Kerchner and
Wilbert (Carol) Kerchner, both
of Mendota; one sister, Ruth
Molln of Ohio, Ill.; one stepsister,
Helen Carr of Mendota; one
stepsister-in-law, Dora Piller of
Mendota; and his longtime pet
companion, Whitey.
He was preceded in death
by two brothers, Oscar and
George; and two sisters,
Margaret and Marie.
Memorials may be directed
to the family for a memorial to
be established later.
