Obituary

Kenneth W. Piller, 82, of Mendota died Jan. 28, 2015, in his residence.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in St. John's Lutheran
Church, Mendota with the Rev. Phil Blom officiating. Burial will be at Restland
Cemetery, Mendota with military rites by VFW Post 4079.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Saturday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Mr. Piller was born March 28, 1932, in Mendota to William C. and Idella (Gustavson)
Piller. He married Janet Kidd on Sept. 9, 1956, in St. John's Lutheran
Church.
He was a 1950 graduate of Mendota High School and served
with the U.S. Army 1952-1954 during the Korean War.
He was a member of Elks Lodge 1212, Mendota Moose
Lodge, VFW Post 4079 and Mendota Masonic Lodge 176. He
served on the First State Bank Board of Directors 1975-2004
and was chairman of the board from 1991 until his retirement
in 2004.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served
on the church council. He owned Kenneth Piller Real Estate in
Mendota for 47 years. He also enjoyed a long relationship with
Merv Nauman Auctioneering. He loved his fishing trips with
family and friends in Minnesota and Wisconsin and especially
spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, William (Stacy) Piller
of Mendota and John (Cindy) Piller of Charlottesville, Va.; one daughter, Susan
(Kyle) Kociss of Morris; six grandchildren, Barry (Rita) Knowlton, Kody Knowlton,
Samuel and Lucas Piller, Isaac and Madeline Piller; one stepgrandson, Jordan
Kociss; one brother, the Rev. Keith (Linda) Piller of Walker, Minn.; nieces
and nephews also survive.
Memorials may be directed to Mendota Area Senior Services, Mendota Fire
Department, Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research,or the donor's
choice.
