E. LaVerne Brandenburg, 91, a resident of the Mendota Lutheran Home, died April 14, 2010, in the home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Merritt Funeral Home , Mendota, with the Rev . Cynthia Zolk officiating. Burial will be at Serena Cemetery, Serena. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. She was born Feb. 8, 1919, in Kentucky to MacKinley and Mae (Grimes) Whitlock. She married Stanley Brandenburg on Nov. 19, 1939. She owned a drapery shop in Serena and sold real estate in the Ottawa area. She was a member of Serena Methodist Church. She is survived by one son, Howard Jerome (Patricia) Brandenburg of Union Grove, Wis.; one granddaughter; two great-grandsons; and one sister, Marzetta Neeley of Kansas. She was preceded in death by her husband in August 2008. Memorials may be directed to Mendota Lutheran Home or Serena Methodist Church.
