LaVonne Heller, 96, of Mendota died Aug. 19, 2011, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Presbyterian Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Dale Dykstra officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, provided the arrangements. She was born Jan. 8, 1915, in Panora, Iowa, to Fred and Minnie (Fritz) Jarnagin. She married Harold McGann on Aug. 12, 1940. He died Dec. 31, 1972. She married Charles Heller on Sept. 18, 1973. He died Dec. 11, 2007. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the church choir and was a former deacon and member of Presbyterian Women. She is survived by one daughter, Mavis (Randy) Chockley of Lake Zurich; four grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and one greatgreat- grandson. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry; and four sisters. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church or the activity fund at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Mendota.
