Obituary

Lee R. Mays, 82,
of West Brooklyn died
Nov. 3, 2013, in his
residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m.
Friday in Merritt Funeral Home,
Mendota with the Rev. Jamie
Wallace officiating. Burial will
be at Union Cemetery, West
Brooklyn with military rites by
VFW Post 4079.
Visiation will be 4-6 p.m.
Thursday and one hour prior to
services Friday at the funeral
home.
Mr. Mays was born Sept. 12,
1931, in Morris to Lee R. and
Alice (Devotie) Mays. He married
Kay Joan Ivlow on Feb.
1, 1969. He was a member and
former deacon at First Baptist
Church, Ottawa.
He graduated from Marseilles
High School in 1949 and attended
the University of Illinois. He
served with the U.S. Air Force
during the Korean War as a radio
operator. He was employed by
CTS Knights, Sandwich as an
electronics technician before his
retirement.
He is survived by his wife,
Kay Joan Mays of West
Brooklyn; one son, Mitchell
Mays of West Brooklyn; two sisters,
Ruth Nienaber of Rocklin,
Calif., and Jean (Gene) Benner
of Naperville; and nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by
two sisters, Wilma Mays and
Edna Shuman and two brothers, Carl Lloyd Mays and Robert Mays.
Memorials may be directed
to Immanuel Lutheran Church
of Compton.
