Lee Smith, 79, of Woodhaven Lakes, Sublette died Oct. 18, 2008, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Tim Stringham officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Mr. Smith was born Nov. 10, 1928, in Chicago to Lee A. and Hazel Smith Sr. He married Jean Carlquist on March 20, 1948, in Chicago. He served in World War II in U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement he was a manager of Red Rooster and Mr. G's supermarkets in Chicago. He is survived by his wife; one son, Jeff Smith of Chicago Heights; one daughter, Karen (Jim) Roberts of Pontiac; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Larry; and one sister. Memorials may be directed to the donors choice.
