Lena Erbes, 85, of Mendota died April 14, 2009, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. Cremation rites will follow the service. Visitation is one hour prior to services Friday in the funeral home. She was born Dec. 30, 1923, in Sandwich to William and Myrta (Clapp) Herron. She married Clarence "Babe" Fitzgerald; he died in 1945. She later married Richard Erbes, who died in 2001. She attended Mendota High School. She is survived by one son, Paul (Tina) Fitzgerald of Mendota; one grandson, Michael (Angela) Fitzgerald of Normal; and two greatgrandchildren, Colin and Clare. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers. Memorials may be directed to the family.
