Lenore Grace (Moyer) Christenson, 91, formerly of Arlington, died May, 22, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 2 at the Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota. Burial of ashes will be at Restland Cemetery next to her husband, James. She was born Lenore Grace Lucas on Dec. 15, 1920 in Arlington. She married James Moyer. He preceded her in death in 1967. She later married Gerhardt Christenson, who also preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Thomas W. (Kay) Moyer of Makanda; one sister, Eileen Sondgeroth of Tulsa, Okla.; three grandchildren, Joses Moyer of Chicago, and Jessica Moyer and Kimberly Moyer, both of Makanda; two great grandchildren, Ariel Moyer and Julian Moyer; and several nieces and nephews, Sue Anderson of Mendota, Steve Moyer of Earlville, Patricia Bilkey of Bloomington, Minn., Sandy Whitmore of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Linda Sondgeroth-Egermeier and Mike Sondgeroth, both of Tulsa, Okla., Bill Masear of Archdale, N.C. and Mike Lucas of Jacksonville, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her first born son, James Earl Moyer; one grandson, Noah James Moyer; two sisters, Marty Grabowski and Catherine Masear; and two brothers, Tom Lucas and Bud Lucas. Mrs. Christenson was a veteran, serving in World War II. She spent much of her married life in Urbana. She worked at the cosmetic counter at Carson Pirie Scott in Urbana for a number of years, was active in St. Patrick Catholic Church, was a member of TTT, and enjoyed playing bridge. The last few years she lived with her son, Thomas, his wife, Katie, and their family in Makanda. She was a joy to be with during her last years, was always devoted to her family and was fun to be with. She usually had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye and was loved by all who knew her. She will be missed.
