Leroy J. Schnayer, 74, of Woodhaven Lakes died June 21, 2010, in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation is 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Mr. Schnayer was born March 28, 1936, in Chicago to Cy and Mary (Dratnol) Schnayer. He married Lorraine Tovar on Dec. 10, 1955, in Chicago. He was a self-employed truck driver. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Woodhaven Lakes; two sons, Leroy (Cara) Schnayer Jr. of New Lenox and Leon Schnayer of Chicago; three daughters, Leonora (Robert) Smith of Shorewood, Laura (Al) Torres of Dunlap and Lynette (Michael) Panno of Twinsburg, Ohio; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne (Donna) Schnayer of Illinois; and three sisters, Charlene Evans of Illinois, Patricia (Charles) Elam of Tennessee and Janice (William) Tan of Illinois. He was preceded in death by one sister. Memorials may be directed to Children's Hospital of Illinois Foundation.
