Obituary

Leslie W. Wamhoff, 60, of LaMoille died Aug. 11, 2008, in Illinois Veterans Home, La Salle. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Community United Methodist Church, LaMoille, with the Rev. John Meyers officiating. Cremation rites will follow. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday in the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, provided arrangements. He was born Oct. 21, 1947, in Princeton to Glen and Elaine (Meisel) Wamhoff. He graduated from LaMoille High School and Highland Junior College in Freeport. He attended Sangamon University in Springfield. He served three years with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was involved in food preparation with various area restaurants and was a caregiver with Horizon House for 11 years. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church in LaMoille. He is survived by one daughter, Miranda (Bob) Powers of LaMoille; one son, Nicholas (Meri) Wamhoff of LaMoille; five grandchildren; his mother, Elaine Wamhoff of LaMoille; three brothers, Mark (Janet) Wamhoff, Timothy Wamhoff and Tad (Connie) Wamhoff, all of LaMoille; one sister, Connie Enlow of Reading, Pa.; and the mother of his children, Patty Wamhoff of LaMoille. He was preceded in death by his father. Memorials may be directed to the family.
