Obituary

Leslie Eugene Asher, 56, of Mendota, formerly of Big Rock and Naperville, died unexpectedly on Feb. 13, 2013.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 2 at Zion United Methodist Church, Mendota. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. on March 2 at the church.

Mr. Asher was born Oct. 13, 1956 in Sycamore to Harlan and Norma (Noldan) Asher. He married Susan (Vitale) Banovz on Dec. 12, 2003 in Wheaton.

Survivors include his wife; three sons from a previous marriage, Jason Asher of Yorkville, Jeremy Asher of Aurora and Ryan Asher of Chicago; three stepchildren, Kevin Banovz of Naperville, Pamela Marrs of O'Fallon and Amanda Compell of Mendota; seven step-grandchildren; seven siblings, Alan (Lisa) Asher of Big Rock, Donna (Allan) Wilkening of Sandwich, Linda Clark of Florida, Heidi Asher of Minnesota, Misty Lambert of Minnesota, Marty Lambert of Minnesota and Robert Lambert of Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Billy Asher.

Mr. Asher worked for Amoco-BP for over 20 years and through his job was involved with Junior Achievement and many charities. He also contributed time as an election judge for DuPage County. He was currently employed as a truck driver for Schneider National. He had a passion for jazz, theatre, bicycling and soccer. He enjoyed being outdoors and photography. He had a huge heart and always gave a helping hand.
