Leslie E. Gordon Jr., 70, of Mendota died Oct. 3, 2016, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Cremation rites will be accorded after the visitation and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Holy Cross Cemetery with military honors by Mendota VFW Post 4079.
Leslie was born July 30, 1946, in Mendota to Leslie and Doris (Catterton) Gordon. He married Sandy Dean on March 6, 1971, in Mendota.
Leslie was a 1965 graduate of Mendota High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and did two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked for Unimin Corp. in Utica for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife Sandy of Mendota; daughter, Melissa Gordon of Mendota; two sons Brian Gordon of Clarendon Hills and Leslie Gordon III of Mendota; three brothers, Charles Gordon of Mendota, James (Jean) Gordon of North Buena Vista, Iowa, and Steven Gordon of Dubuque, Iowa; and three sisters Sheila (Gary) Duttlinger of Mendota, Colleen Borman of Mendota and Carol Politsch of Oregon, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother John in infancy; and four sisters, Barbara, Linda, Janet and Paula.
