Lois Jean Kettley, 94, of Compton, IL, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Manor Court in Rochelle, IL. Lois was born July 4, 1931 in Ord, Nebraska the daughter of Joseph and Ruth (Leonard) Collins. Lois married Delos Kettley Feb. 4th, 1950. Delos passed away July 23, 2004.
Lois was a devoted Christian, a dedicated farm wife, and a loving homemaker. She was a wonderful cook, well known for her famous Turtle Brownies, and hospitality was truly one of her God-given gifts. Through her warm and generous spirit, she made everyone feel welcome.
Lois faithfully served her church and community in many roles. She was a Sunday School teacher, Cub Scout leader, EMT/Instructor, CPR Instructor, and a private pilot with an instrument rating. Never one to shy away from adventure, she went skydiving three times, beginning on her 80th birthday.
Music and creativity were important parts of Lois’s life. She loved singing in church, especially alongside George Miller. She wrote a Christmas rap song that was published and was also a talented artist who designed her own greeting cards, which were patented. She found joy in planting flowers at her home and at her church in Compton.
Above all, Lois dearly loved her family and friends. She is now at peace with her Savior and reunited with family who shared salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Lois was preceded in death by her father: Joseph Robert Collins; her biological mother Ruth Collins, who passed when Lois was just 4 years old; and step-mother Elvina Collins; four siblings: Bill Collins, Mary White, Dave Collins and Richard Collins.
Lois is survived by her three children: Alan Kettley of Babcock Ranch FL, Ricke (Teresa) Kettley of Cape Coral FL and Steward, IL and Diane (Mike) Worman of Babcock Ranch, FL; five grandchildren: Nate (Angela) Harms, Jeremy (Tiffany) Harms, Bill Herber, Eric (Rhea) Worman and Kellie Arteaga; eleven great grandchildren: Nicholas, Noah, Lylahlou, MaryJo, Kirk, Kristopher "Kody", Justin, Ryan, Bethany, Ali and Cadie (Devin Moses). great great grandchildren: Thomas, Austin and Oakleigh.
Memorial visitation will be held Monday, December 29, 2025 from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Village House of Praise, (Former Methodist Church) 139 W. Chestnut Street, Compton, IL. Memorial service will be Tuesday, December 30 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Randy Ikeler officiating, at the same location.
