Lora J. Ortega, 55, of Mendota died December 11, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m., Wednesday in the Faith Assembly of God Church, Peru with Rev. Steve Adamson officiating. Burial will take place in Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation from 4-7p.m., Tuesday in the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Lora was born October 12, 1960 in Joliet, IL. to John and Rosella (Stanbery) Freeman. She graduated from Morris High School, attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, MN. and graduated from IVCC with her Registered Nurse's Degree. Since 1996 she had been employed by Mendota Community Hospital and for the past year by OSF St. Paul Hospital, Mendota. She was a member of Faith Assembly of God, Peru. She is survived by her husband, Paul of Mendota; two sons; Travis Ortega and Steven Hering both of Mendota; two step-sons; Chet Ortega of Princeton and Jared Ortega of Ladd; three grandchildren; her mother, Rosella Freeman of Mendota; two sisters; Donna Jackson of Jonesboro, AR. and Karla (Paul) Weis of Guatemala. She was preceded by her father. Memorials may be directed to the family.
