Lowell F. Ambler, 79, of Mendota, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 surrounded by family, after an extended illness.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date, to be announced, when all of his children can be in attendance. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.
Lowell was born October 12, 1942 to James and Mildred (Neighbor) Ambler. He married his late wife Shirley Cronin and they had two sons Max Ambler and Troy (Irene) Ambler and a daughter Carrie (Ambler) Becker. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he adored.
Lowell served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran of War. He became an Illinois State Police Officer and went on to become the Chief of Police in Earlville, Illinois where he retired.
Lowell loved spending time with his family and friends, with his fun loving sense of humor, sitting around telling good old stories about golfing or Musky fishing in Hayward, Wisconsin. He was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Madge Patterson, his cherished wife Shirley Ambler and his grandson Dalton Ambler.
