Luz Maria Garza (nee Corona), 75, of Joliet and formerly of Mendota, passed away March 26, 2022 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet, due to her battle with serious medical issues.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Mendota with Father Peter Pilon officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 p.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with a 2:15 p.m. Rosary.
Luz was born April 6, 1946 in Mexico to Jesus and Ines (Marin) Corona. She married Tito Garza.

In recent years, she showed her courage in facing life's challenges with her infectious smile. Despite the pain, she was a fighter until the end. Her favorite pastime was playing loteria, bingo and going to the casino.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tito in 2001 and 5 siblings.

She is survived by her daughters Leticia (Allen) Sykora, Diana Garza and Beatriz (Jesse) Sharp; 7 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 5 siblings and many nieces and nephews.
