Lyle Lester Edward Geuther, 87,
of LaMoille died June 15, 2014, in his
home surrounded by his family.
Services will be at 11 a.m.
Wednesday in Zion Evangelical
Lutheran Church of Clarion with the
Rev. Kevin Weeks officiating. Burial
will be at Clarion
Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be
4-7 p.m. Tuesday
in Merritt Funeral
Home, Mendota.
Mr. Geuther was
born Oct. 5, 1926, in
a farmhouse south of
Clarion to Clarence
and Laura (Meisel)
Geuther. He married
Ruth Elaine Bauer on Aug. 18, 1948,
in Zion Lutheran Church.
He was a lifelong member of
Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church
of Clarion, where he was baptized,
confirmed and married. He served
several terms on the church council.
Lyle was on the Clarion Township
Board for 30 years, six years as
trustee and 24 years as road commissioner.
He and Ruth farmed in Lee
and Bureau counties until retiring in
2010.
He is survived by his wife; four children,
Mark (Nora) Geuther, Amy (Ron)
McFarlain and Brad (Debra) Geuther,
all of LaMoille, and Melody Sheahan
of Heber City, Utah; 10 grandchildren,
Troy (Christy) Geuther of Brentwood,
Tenn., Chad (Allison) Geuther of
Amboy, Lance (Becky) Geuther of
La Salle, Jarod (Megan) Sheahan of
Los Alamitos, Calif., Derek Sheahan
of Heber City, Utah, Sarah Sheahan
(Jason Rambo) of Fullerton, Calif.,
Tyler (Staci) Martin of Ortonville,
Mich., Brianna Martin (Adam Blanton)
of Ottawa, Jade Geuther of Milwaukee,
Wis., and Nigel (Neftali) Lizarraga
of San Diego, Calif.; seven greatgrandchildren,
Elise, Weston, Lyle,
Cadence and Amelia Geuther, Bryce
Martin and Benjamin Sheahan and sister Evelyn Beardin of West Brooklyn.
He was preceded in death by two
brothers, Clifford and Ralph; and one
son-in-law, Phillip Sheahan.
