Lynn Lewis Dewey passed away peacefully in his hometown of Mendota, Illinois, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family on May 27, 2023.

Lynn was born on September 2, 1940 in Mendota to Lewis and Florence (Fransen) Dewey of Triumph, Illinois.

Lynn graduated from Mendota High School in 1958. He then continued on to Illinois Valley Community College, where he played football and earned his AA degree. He continued his education at Illinois State University, where he earned both a Bachelors' degree in 1964 and then his Masters's degree in Education in 1987. He then embarked on a successful teaching and school administration career, all while managing his beloved farm. Lynn was a member of the Mendota Elks and the Masonic Lodge.

Lynn will be remembered most for his easygoing demeanor and the big smile that graced his face every time you encountered him. He was beyond positive and a beacon of light for those around him.

Lynn's children are Eric Dewey/Amy Northcutt of Highland, Illinois, and Beth Dewey/Jeff Rager of Manhattan Beach, California. Lynn's siblings include Lorraine Van Etten, Lauren Dewey (deceased) and Steve Dewey (deceased). Lynn has five handsome grandsons Patrick Rager, Tyler Rager, Noah Rager, Austin Dewey, and Ethan Dewey that will carry on his incredible legacy.

A funeral service for Lynn Dewey will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Saint John's Lutheran Church, Mendota with Vicar Anthony Windau officiating. The visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., funeral service at 3:00 p.m., followed by the burial at 4:00 p.m. at the Dewey/Worsley Cemetery.  A celebration of life will follow at The Chalet in Mendota. All in attendance are encouraged to wear green representing my dad's love for John Deere green.
