Maevis Metzen, 96, of Mendota died July 31,
2012, in Mendota Lutheran Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Merritt
Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. David
Tellinghuisen officiating. Burial will be at
Restland Cemetery, Mendota.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of
services Monday in the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 24, 1916, in Rice Lake,
Wis., to Herman and Clara (Soldner) Tegen. She
married Frank Metzen on July 16, 1938, in
Clinton, Iowa.
She was a member of First Presbyterian
Church, Mendota.
Survivors are three sons, Frank Metzen of
Mendota, Kendall (Judith) Metzen of
Montgomery and Gary (Andrea) Metzen of Port
Richey, Fla.; two daughters, Barbara Hanson of
Glen Ellyn and Marlene (Silas) Light of Watseka;
nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on
May 17, 1985, and one brother and one sister.
