Obituary

Margaret Carnahan, 92, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Compton. The Rev. Paul Darveau will officiate. Burial will be at Melugen Cemetery, Brooklyn Township. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Mrs. Carnahan was born Jan. 20, 1915, in Brooklyn Township to William Henry and Augusta (Arndt) Halboth. She married Clifton Carnahan on Jan. 18, 1936, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Compton. He died Sept. 1, 1993. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she also was a member of Women of the ELCA. In her earlier years, she was a member of the church choir. She taught Sunday school for 35 years. She also was a member of Mendota Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors are one son, Kent Carnahan of Compton; one daughter, Carol (Henry) Vehrs of Visalia, Calif.; three granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Mendota Lutheran Home.
