Marian Gromann, 86, of Mendota passed away December 13, 2017 in Heritage Health, Mendota.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday at Zion United Methodist Church with Pastor Hogun Kim officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery, Mendota.Visitation will be one hour before the service in the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Mrs. Gromann was born on December 3, 1931 in Mendota to Arthur and Edith (Brauhn) Stein. She married Harold Gromann on April 12, 1953, in Mendota.
She and her husband, Harold, entered the business world in 1955 as a commissioned agent for Standard Oil Co. Together they co-founded Gromann Service Co. which provided petroleum products and services in the Tri-County area. They later established Lakeview Food Shop and Gromann's I-39 Auto/Truck Plaza in Mendota. She was most noted for her attention to detail within the bookkeeping department of the business.
Marian was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church, Amarath Chapter of Eastern Star, Mendota Women's Club, Sponsor of the Mendota Junior Women's Club and member of the Mendota Business and Professional Womens Club. In recent years she enjoyed her visits with her Book Club friends.
Survivors include one son, Greg (Nancy) of Mendota; two granddaughters, Kate (Jayson) Renoud and Jane (Frank) Bromenschenkel of Mendota; three great-grandchildren, Sophia Renoud, Emma Renoud and Billy Bromenschenkel; and one sister Eleanor Preston of Naperville.
