Marian E. Neal, 78, of Shabbona, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Prairie Crossing Healthcare and Rehab after a long battle with illness. Marian was born July 24, 1946, in Mendota, IL the daughter of Edward and Hilda (Winter) Hoelzer.

Marian lived the majority of her life in Compton. She worked at Swensen Spreader in Lindenwood and then spent her time looking after her granddaughter, Seneca. Marian loved horses and animals of all kinds. Her horses Aletta and Cisco were everything. She never missed a morning to take care of them no matter what the weather was like.

Marian is survived by her granddaughter, Seneca Schneider and great-granddaughter, Ivy Wagner of Compton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Wanda Burton; ex-husband, Terry Neal; and siblings, Violet Williams, Kenneth Hoelzer, Dennis Hoelzer, Milton Hoelzer, and Maynard Hoelzer.

A memorial service for Marian will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Horner-Merritt Funeral Home, 800 Monroe Street, in Mendota. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Contributions in Marian's name may be directed to the Equus Foundation or the horse rescue of your choice.
