Marian L. Terry, 79, of DePue and formerly of Mendota, passed away Monday, June 8, 2026, at OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital in Peru. She was born July 26, 1946, in Morrison, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Etta (nee Williams) Planthaber. She married Thomas Terry on April 13, 1963, in Morrison, IL.
Marian loved cooking, baking, tending to her flowers, and working in the garden. She was a die hard St. Louis Cardinals fan and also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears. She was an avid reader. She would read the newspaper every day and could often be found visiting her local library whenever she had the chance. Every year, Marian looked forward to attending the Mendota Sweet Corn Festival and Sandwich Fair. She was a woman of great faith, who would read her bible every day. She was a devout member of Victory Baptist Church in Mendota for almost 60 years.
Marian is survived by her husband, Thomas Terry Sr. of DePue; two children, Thomas (Debbie) Terry Jr. of DePue and Bonnie Cushman of Spring Valley; grandchildren, Ashley Terry of LaMoille, James Cushman of DePue, and Travis Cushman of Spring Valley; great-grandchildren, Dylan Clark, Logan Bates, Michael Terry, Arlo Hardison, Apple Terry, Etta Cushman, Leslie Reed, and Vincente Alford Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marian is preceded in death by two granddaughters, Jennifer Terry and Sarah Cushman; and her siblings, Henry, Wesley, Margaret, Clarence, Harold, and Floyd Planthaber.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 15, 2026, at Victory Baptist Church, 505 W. 7th Avenue in Mendota with Pastor Jay Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church. Contributions in Marian's memory may be directed to Victory Baptist Church.
