Marie A. (Leahy) Rollins, 95, of Mendota died March 8, 2009, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Holy Cross Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Gary Blake officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born Jan. 14, 1914, in Darlington, Wis., to Leo and Mary A. (Wiegel )Leahy. She married Joseph S. Rollins on Sept. 20, 1937, in Granite City. She graduated from Darlington High School and St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Madison, Wis., in 1934. She had graduate studies in public health at the University of Minnesota and Marquette University. She was a school nurse of 22 years in Mendota schools. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, and several bridge clubs. She also was a member of Mendota Golf Club and Mendota Community Hospital board for several years. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann (William) Stremlau of Ottawa, Helen (David) Dutz of Belvidere and Becky (Larry) Lubbs of Sterling; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eileen (Floyd) Goeman, Eleanor Mitrovich and Patricia (Francis) Capra, all of Wisconsin; and six brothers, Edward Leahy, Joseph (Mary Ann) Leahy, Richard (Mary Kay) Leahy, Michael (Maureen) Leahy, Leo (Della) Leahy and Jerry (Mary) Leahy, all of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 24, 2002; and three sisters. Memorials may be directed to the alumni scholarship fund at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Mendota Area Christian Food Pantry or Holy Cross School. Pallbearers will be Joseph and Michael Stremlau, David and Matthew Dutz and Robert and William Mann.
